Chris Armitage BTech, MBA, CEng - CEO
Chis joined Heliex in November 2015, bringing with him over 35 years of experience in the supply of capital equipment to the process industries. Having started his career with Foster Wheeler where he was involved in the design, project management and construction of industrial steam boilers he most recently held a number of roles with Sterling Industries PLC. He joined Sterling Thermal Technology Ltd as Managing Director of the heat exchange business, before becoming Group Managing Director of the $120 million Sterling Industries PLC.
A graduate Chemical Engineer from the University of Bradford he also holds an MBA from the Open University.
Professor Dan Wright MBE, BSc, CEng, FIMechE. – CTO & Founder
Dan studied aeronautics at Glasgow University and then worked for a number of racing car teams before joining the Ford Motor Company. He progressed through several major engineering companies and co-founded the product development company Fleming Thermodynamics Ltd. In 1993 he led the buyout which created Albion Automotive Industries from the bankrupt Leyland DAF truck business. In 2000 he became managing director of Johnston Sweepers Ltd, the world’s largest manufacturer of road sweepers and in 2010 he founded Heliex Power Ltd.
A visiting professor at City University London, he is a strategy board member of the Adam Smith Business School and an industrial adviser to the Solar Electric Technology group, both at Glasgow University. He has also held a number of non-executive directorships including chairmanships. He has served on several important government and other advisory bodies, and was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to engineering.
Dr Marco Iezzi PhD – Thermodynamics and Product Planning Director
Marco was the company’s first employee and had responsibility for the conceptual design, prototyping and test of the initial HE145 expanders, including the design, build, commissioning and operation of the company’s dynamometer test rig. Handing over responsibility for product detail design and development, Marco now has responsibility for thermodynamics and mathematical modelling.
He is also responsible for product planning which is the definition of the company’s product ranges through the investigation, analysis and matching of technology, markets, legislation, customer applications, economic and industrial trends.
Marco gained a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Managerial Engineering and his degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of L’Aquila, Italy.
David Milton BAcc CA – CFO
David joined the Heliex management team in November 2014 as Chief Financial Officer. He trained with KPMG before joining The JPM Company UK Ltd as Financial Controller and subsequently became Finance Director at Scottish Enterprise and then CFO of Howco Materials Management PLC. David joined Internacionale Limited, the value retailer, in 1999 as Group Finance Director where he worked until February 2014.
David has a degree in Accountancy from The University of Glasgow and is a Chartered Accountant at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
